Other year... and bonfire

Oh another year of school come and gone.... It has been a great year this year! All the girls did well in school. We survived our first year of a middle school child and she survived us...?... We have decided.. thanks to Bella that we are going to have a bonfire on Thursday night and hope that any who want to come will! 8p...bring marshmallows and mosquito repellent! We have wood to burn and fun to be had. I can't believe how fast this year has gone!I remember the first time that Bella went to school and I cried and cried...and the school was just over the fence...now they ride the bus and go to middle school and have friends and.... and.... and...
*tear*... time sure does keep going...well here's to another year!

Controversy

There is this great town with great people...every year in this great town between the months of October to May a phenomenon know as the "Snowbird" comes and feeds off the town. They gather at a new state of the art nesting facility and squawk when anyone tries to enter their territory.
Lovely story huh? Here in Overton we get a lot of seniors that have homes here and stay here for about 3 to 4 months of the year. They all mostly live in a trailer park called Robbins Nest. They had a senior center within walking distance and a thrift store nearby. Well, they build a new senior center about 1 mile down the road, that has a HUGE banquet hall and a library and classrooms. Needless to say the town is now up in arms. There is no recreation center here for the KIDS and FAMILIES that stay here 12 months a year....oh that's right, we actually build our lives here. Out of the 2 pools in the community, only 1 might be open this year. Average summer temp is 107... The one gymnastic business might have to close because of BS....no more comment....and the back to the senior center...it only stays open until 2p. So, as a mother to 5 kids and someone that likes to stay up past 2p...why is that only a senior center? Lots has been said and opinions have been expressed in our local paper....Go to www.mvprogress.com... but the true point is...this is a community! Not a snowbird governed paradise that is only here 3 to 4 months of the year! I love seniors...hope to be one someday...but the entitlement is overwhelming.I guess it comes with age, the lack of sharing..we tell our children to share and be kind, but notice with age we become more and more cynical and selfish. Just an opinion....

New Job and More Tryouts

A few weeks ago one of Louie's bosses came to me and said that Coca Cola was looking for a merchandiser to work the Overton store. They had a guy coming from Mesquite to come out here just to service the store and so he asked if I would like a job that I would get to work only 2-3 hours a day and then be done! YES! Anyway I got he job and I started last week. It is a lot of lifting and sorting stuff. I put all the Coke products out...(PLUG)...smart water, ALL Coke products, vitamin water and Dasani water. So to all my Overton friends...let me know if you want anything and I can see if I can get it. It has been really great so far. I love the physical aspect of it. My back is sore, but I love that I can go in and fill the stuff and be done. I listen to my music and that is it! Plus I have decided then since getting this job that I will no longer be babysitting. Which I am happy about...(no offense intended) but I am hoping this might lead to opportunities more eventually.
Also this week we are once again in tryout mode. Isabella is trying out for the dance company and we are a little more relaxed and calm then we were for the cheer tryouts. She also was inducted into the BETA club and is going to be the historian for it! She will get to take pics and keep a scrapbook for the club. Cecilia and Francesca are preparing for the May Day dance...which don't ask me what the heck it is ...but it is a BIG thing here and so they are really excited for it...pics to come soon!

They have even learned how to morph the characters....A different head on a different body. They will discuss strategy and the know all the characters and lingo. They are really cute to watch.

Isabella was accepted today to the BETA club. She is very excited and has worked very hard at school this year to be apart of this. As for what they do and all that...I have no idea. I just know that she will be performing service projects and that they have meetings during lunch. SO any one out there been part of the BETA club? We are so proud of her and all she does.
